Samsara

It’s me again
The old ball and chain.
Both the sweat-slick groom and the beautiful beaming bride.
Except I never got on one knee and
I never made any vows.
Except I can’t disappear to the local dive bar
When I get sick of myself
Because we’re both manacled to the same locked ribcage.
This lover of mine, she lives deep inside
Milky, glistening bone that we call our lovely little home
And I never asked to have to love her
But oh, what a privilege.
